Coke Zero 400 Travel Package
Of course Daytona International Speedway is known as the home of the Daytona 500, or “The Great American Race,” but the track also puts on the Coke Zero 400, which is one of the biggest and best races on the NASCAR schedule. Held on the 4th of July weekend, the Coke Zero 400 started out as the Firecracker 250 back in 1959, and fitting was won by Fireball Roberts. Some of the biggest names in NASCAR dominated this race in the 1960s and 1970s with frequent victories by A.J. Foyt, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty and David Pearson. In recent years, Tony Stewart has captured the race three times and Jeff Gordon also has three career wins in this race. Imagine the feeling of being there watching the Coke Zero 400 and seeing those iconic DAYTONA letters painted in the infield grass.
Because it’s just 400 miles and run over one of the fastest tracks on the NASCAR circuit, the Coke Zero 400 is known for speed. The race is often over in just 2 ½ hours and the average speed is sometimes as high as 170 mph. That makes for great racing action, not to mention a few high-speed crashes.
