Pocono 400 Travel Package
Long known as the Pocono 400, the first of two NASCAR Sprint Cup races at Pocono Raceway is now called the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 Presented by Target. That’s quite a mouthful, so no one will blame you for still referring to it by its old name. And if you want to be there to see it in person, you can get a Pocono 400 travel package from Premiere Sports Travel that includes Pocono 400 tickets, hotel reservations near Pocono Raceway and a whole lot more. Part of what makes Pocono unique is the 3-turn configuration of the 2.5-mile track. This is a challenging track for the drivers as each of the three turns is completely different and it’s not uncommon to see cars racing five or six across the track on the straightaways. Pocono also brings out the best from the crew chiefs, as they need to pay special attention to tires and chassis issues because of the 3-turn setup.
Over the years no single driver has been able to dominate at Pocono, as is the case at some tracks, so that makes it very hard to predict the winner. Denny Hamlin has managed to win twice in recent years, and other recent winners include Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards. In the early years of this race it was dominated by some of the sport’s legends, like Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough and Bill Elliot.
