Fans in M&T Bank Stadium are wondering what happened to their Ravens. Wasn’t it just a few short years ago they had a defense for the ages and a Super Bowl title under their belts? In 2006 the Ravens dominated the AFC North with a 13-3 record and looked ready to take their place in the NFL sun. Steve McNair was being hailed as the final piece of the puzzle that would have the Ravens challenging the Patriots for AFC dominance. It didn’t work out that way. The Ravens struggled to a 5-11 record in 2007 and Bill Billick, the architect of a Super Bowl team, was out the door.

Now the Ravens are operating under the guidance of John Harbaugh and some questions need to be answered. Is McNair really the long term answer at quarterback? Ray Lewis may have been the best linebacker in the NFL but has he passed his prime? In fact, are the Ravens ready for a major overhaul of the roster? Could be. If Baltimore wants to keep up with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a suddenly threatening Cleveland Browns, they’ll need a shot of youth pretty quickly. Sometimes a coaching change is just the ticket.
