Green Bay Packers History

Once again Brett Favre has added to his mystique and further ensured his place in the NFL’s Hall of fame. And once again the merry go round that is Favre’s retirement plan will make all the headlines. While many expected him to take seat at ringside after the Packers finished at 8-8 in 2006, Favre returned for one more year and returned with a vengeance. With the whole world expecting the Chicago Bears to easily repeat as NFC North Champions, Green Bay shut them up with their best season in ages and Favre was a major factor.

NFC North domination by the Bears? Hardly. Green Bay was 402 in the division, whipping the Minnesota Vikings 34-0 in Lambeau Field and trashing the Detroit Lions 34-13 in the season finales to finish at 13-3. Then they turned around and ended the Seahawks season with a 42-20 beating at home. Alas, the storybook season of Brett Favre and the Packers ended in a snowy defeat by the eventual Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. But the Packers, and probably Brett Favre, will be back. Why Not?
