Philadelphia Eagles History

The Philadelphia Eagles have certainly had their troubles. Coming off their Super Bowl year and the debacle the following season with T.O., the Eagles could have used a break. They didn’t get it. Still, hopes were high in 2007 for a return to contention in the NFC East, a tough division that put three teams in the playoffs the previous year. McNabb was claiming to be healthy, though speculation was running rampant that his days were numbered with the drafting of Kevin Kolb out of Houston.

The Eagles stumbled out of the gate, dropping three of their first four games, including divisional games against the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. The middle art of the season became a study in inconsistency as Philadelphia failed to gain any momentum. McNabb, for his part, proved he could still play at a high level in the NFL, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 19 touchdowns. The downside is that once again McNabb was sidelined for three key games due to injury.

Eagles fans looking forward to the 2008 NFL season can take solace in the fact that Philadelphia appeared to be improving at the end, winning their final three games with convincing performances against the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Buffalo Bills. Hopefully, that carries over to the new season and better days are ahead at Lincoln Financial Field.
