It’s hard to forget the memories of Busch Memorial Stadium. Home to the St. Louis Cardinals of the MLB for 40 years, Busch Memorial Stadium carried the history of the Cardinals within its walls. In 1967 the Cardinals won the 7th game of the World Series in Busch Memorial Stadium behind the pitching of Bob Gibson. The Stadium would host more World Series play in the years with another Series victory for the Cardinals coming in 1982. Old timers will remember the brand new stadium playing host to the 1966 All Star Game. It was in Busch Memorial Stadium, in an MLB regular Season game, that Mark McGwire hit home run #62 to pass Roger Maris. Cardinals fans will remember these moments, as well as the heartbreak of watching the Boston Red Sox end their World Series drought and breaking the hearts of Redbirds fans. Today the St. Louis Cardinals play their home games in the newly constructed Busch Stadium, directly adjacent to the site of the old Busch Memorial Stadium. While the new stadium is a model for modern baseball, many fans fondly remember the old stadium and the memories of the St. Louis Cardinals of old.
