Groves Stadium History

Grab a seat in Groves Stadium and see great college football in the form of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Wake Forest has been staging a comeback of sorts, topped off with a #18 Ranking and an Orange Bowl appearance in 2006. That’s no mean fate in the ACC where teams like Florida State and Virginia Tech do their prowling. The fact is, Demon Deacons football has become so popular that Groves Stadium has seen record crowds recently, with all 31,500 seats filled to capacity.

Groves Stadium is set up a little differently than most college football venues. The field is flanked by two curves grandstands on either side rather than being completely surrounded. On one end of the field is the famous Deacon Hill where fans can relax on the grass while cheering on their team. As the Demon Deacons success of the field continues so the crowds continue to grow. Even as you read this plans are being made to improve and expand Groves Stadium with more seating and bigger press boxes to accommodate the growing legions of fans primed for Wake Forest Bowl worthy football.
