Facts About Mountaineer Field:

1) Mountaineer Field is the home of the West Virginia Mountaineers football team. The official name is Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
2) Mountaineer Field originally opened in ‘80 and could seat 50,000 college football fans. Since then various expansions have increased seating to over 60,000.
2) If you like John Denver you’ll be interested to know that tradition dictates the singing of “Country Roads” after every win.
3) The West Virginia Mountaineers play in the Big East, a conference that includes the high flying Louisville Cardinals, Syracuse, Connecticut, and Pittsburgh.

The Mountaineers

College football fans have become increasingly aware of Mountaineer Field and the strength of the West Virginia Mountaineers. In ‘06 the Mountaineers finished at 11-2, capping off a great year with a 38-35 victory over Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl. In ‘05 the Mountaineers finished at #5 in the nation, narrowly missing the chance to play in the BCS National Championship game, but topped Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. With regular appearances in the Gator Bowl, the Orange Bowl, and other postseason games, a visit to Mountaineer Field means you’ll always see a top quality college football team.
